I have the DirecTV in HD but the local channels aren't available without buying this additional antenna. I bought it and received my local hd programming in the beginning. Lately, my NBC and ABC affiliate stations aren't working correctly. I get either no picture or one that freezes up constantly. The CBS and Fox work fine. Is there something I can troubleshoot to "pull in" NBC and ABC again?

Hope that made sense. I'm getting ticked about missing College FB in HD on Sat and the Sunday night NFL game.

what kind of antenna? indoor or outdoor? go to this website, antennaweb.org and put in your address then post the results so I can look at them.

It's an outdoor antenna. It's like a "booster antenna" to get the local HD channels. It was put on the roof next to my dish by the DirecTV guy. It is supposed to work in concert with my dish.

I'll go to the site and see if I can find it but it looks like a metal cage from the distance

you will have to cut and paste them.. I am most interested in how far you are away from the digital stations that you mention, and also the azimuth.,

It looks like your 40+ miles from the towers. one thing you could try if you have an attic is buying an outdoor antenna and mounting it in your attic. Before that make very small adjustments to the antenna that's up there now, if you can find someone to do it or watch the signal strength on your tv while you do it will go a lot faster. sometimes just the smallest movement and your signal will be solid or you lose it. Not sure if this will work being as far away as you are. good luck.

I would check the direction that the antenna is pointing. looks like if you would point it toward about 336 degrees you would be pretty central to all of the towers.

I would also recommend getting a cm4228 if moving the antenna doesnt fix the problem:

http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?main_cat=03&CAT=&PROD=ANC4228

and a preamplifier:
http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?PROD=ANC7778

that should do it for you. You will also find that the locals that you catch will be much better quality than what you get from directv. not sure which receiver you have but you can look at the signal strength of the channels in the setup menu for over the air channels. you may just need to turn your antenna a little bit.
