I have a coworker who is going to nola with his girlfriend to attend a wedding in the french quarter. He was wondering about Air BnB locations throughout Marigny, and whether it is significantly safer further south away from Rampart?

They are in their mid/upper-20s and they love the jazz scene and nightlife in Marigny, but never actually stayed in the vicinity. They are streetwise and know better than to stay out all night by themselves.

Would it be better to advise him just to get a hotel in the FQ, or has Marigny safety improved significantly in the recent years?

I haven't lived in nola since 1990, and N Rampart (and that region through downtown/FQ/Marigny) was extremely sketchy back then...

I haven't been in years, but I'd stay between Burgundy and the river. I never had a problem around there when I lived in the area (2003-2008)

Besides, that's where most the fun is anyway.l

And I for sure wouldn't cross St. Claude (at least not stay there). I'd make an exception for Saturn Bar though.

Marigny is equivalent to any other neighborhood in New Orleans, not likely any less safe than the quarter.

They could, however, stay a legit business instead of an Airbnb. Just saying.

That's what I figured, thanks! I will pass this on to my friend.
