[NETFLIX] The Haunting of Hill House (Probably Spoilers Inside) (1 Viewer)

Haven't seen the 2nd season yet, but I read that it is a reimagining of Henry James' "A Turn of the Screw".

It is.

I thought the new season was better than the first. We really enjoyed both.

Second season just ok. Not scary at all, but still mostly entertaining. I'd give it a 7 to the first season's 9.

The first paragraph of "The Haunting of Hill House" might be my favorite fiction prose opening paragraph ever.

No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.

Shirley Jackson is, imo, the best short fiction writer I have ever read.

The book is incredible.

Season One was amazing.
