Marsha - I respect and enjoy your awesome wittiness of all your posts enormously.

Until the last few days, I couldn't stand the self-centered, showboat ham that is Cam Newton. But I read Bill Bellicheck's praise of Newton yesterday and I wonder if he is starting to mature. BB does not heap praise around much as we all know. He praised Cam for his work ethic, leadership and skills. Before I permanently sink Newton, I want to give him one more chance now that he is out of our division.

Yeah, he was saying he was wrong about what he was expecting from BB. I dunno, we'll see. I mean, I know they aren't going to be sharing wardrobe tips

I had a student at the college a few years ago who knew Cam in high school. During the 3rd quarter of a playoff game (I think it was 2013 against the 9ers) where the Panthers were getting beaten pretty badly he texted a ribbing jibe to him, something like, "that's winning football right there (I don't remember his jibe exactly)."
The telling thing about Cam is that my student said that Cam responded to the text - during the third quarter while the defense was on the field. That's all I needed to know about how seriously Cam takes his job.

How is that even possible? Phones on the field are verboten now, aren't they? Maybe not yet back then.

During media week, leading up to the Super Bowl, everyone was making Cam seem like the hero that hung the moon. Nobody was bothering with Manning, too boring. Cam was the rock star.

How's that Newton's fault? What does it matter?

Then comes the big game, Cam gets upset & LAYS DOWN FLAT ON THE GROUND, like a 3 year old, throwing a tantrum. I felt sorry for Riverboat Ron, who was a few feet away. (Probably praying that the earth would open up & hide him). I was in shock....how could this be on national TV???!!! THEN, Cam refused to stay for the after game interview, under his dark hoodie,
and he pouted his way out of the room.

Sorry........ if it is not obvious, I am not a football expert. I am learning & appreciating EVERY DAY, what I learn on SR, about the dynamics of the NFL.

IMHO, that is behavior that is bizarre TO ME. I understand that it is not the X & O‘s of professional football .........but not every fan is an Albert Einstein with a high IQ football brain.

See, I was done .. but then I heard that. I'm chapped this guy feels underappreciated when he -- and, let's face it, also Matt Ryan -- both have MVPs. I just don't understand why Drew doesn't.

By Odin move on woman. Why are you so obsessed about a totally hollow and insignificant award as the NFL MVP? Everybody knows it is given to the QB which team has the most wins at the time. Nothing about the individual effort. It is like a poor man's Oscar award for simply being the "poster boy" for a winning team /movie

I think Belichek and Brady are both trying to "show the world" they don't need each other. Brady is trying to personally lift the Buccaneers while Belichek is trying to win a football game by coaching something named Newton. Their hyper-inflated egos will destroy their legacies for them as both have failure written all over these situations.

Looks like the love child of Wilt Chamberlin and Jean-Michael Basquiat who was adopted by Mr T and RuPaul.

If anything I think the media has been gentle with him because of his race. If a white QB carried himself like that on the field and dressed like that off of it, lol, I can't even imagine what the press would do to him. It would be brutal. Think Jay Cutler but if Jay Cutler had an even worse attitude and he was a cross dresser.

Nobody can deny that African American QBs have had issues in the past but these days the media loves them. Go back to Vick before that thing went south. He was the face of the league. RG3 was anointed the chosen one but then he got hurt. Cam has been lavished with praise and given a MVP before things got weird, Watson, Mahomes, Jackson, Wilson, etc.

Also, great point about Brady & BB and egos.....will be interesting to see how this season plays out.
