"New Orleans Pelicans forward Larry Nance Jr. has agreed to a two-year, $21.6 million contract extension, his agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, told ESPN on Saturday.

The extension, tying Nance to the franchise through the 2024-2025 season, allows him to join the Pelicans' key players -- including Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum -- on long-term deals.

Nance was entering the final year of a four-year, $48 million contract.

The 29-year-old Nance arrived to the Pelicans in a February trade with the Portland Trail Blazers as part of a package with McCollum, and he didn't make his debut until March 24 because of a right knee injury. Nance impacted the Pelicans' run to the Western Conference playoffs, delivering 14 points and 16 rebounds in a play-in victory over the LA Clippers and scoring in double figures three times in a seven-game Western Conference playoff series."

They're doing a pretty good job of locking up our core players for a few years.

Zion - 5
CJ - 4
JV - 3
Jose - 3
Nance - 3
BI - 3

Now we need to get Jax extended.

I think they will let Hayes test free agency as I think Hayes and his agent will demand more than the Pels would be willing to pay

he has had off court issues and has not developed all that quickly (even tho he is a human highlight waiting to happen at times)

The biggest issue is lack of minutes for the investment tho. There are 240 player minutes in a game...he probably got 20 minutes per on average last year and that was with 3 rookies playing and no Zion. Odds are that Hayes is going to be a 10-12 minute per game player at the very most as Zion (and potentially Trey Murphy and Dyson Daniels) will definitely eat into his usage and you are going to have to plan for the future of our youngsters.
