New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton said the start of free agency began just like he expected where lots of teams shelled out lots of money and the Saints sat on the sideline and watched.
Payton said Wednesday morning he understands how fans can be in a bit of a panic seeing the high-priced free agents fly off the board in the first hours the period opens as the Saints sit tight making no moves. Payton pointed out how the Saints have a history of finding their best values where there's a need for the team.
Payton also said it's important for the Saints to let the market settle for the first couple of days after the free-for-all and use their money wisely considering the Saints pried themselves under the salary cap Tuesday.
