New Orleans Saints Sheldon Rankins fractured the fibula in his left leg as a senior in high school.

So, when he suffered the same injury in his left leg during training camp, he didn't need to wait for the doctors to know what happened.

"As soon as I heard the pop, I knew," the first-round pick said Friday.

Now, as the Saints prepare for their season opener against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at 12 p.m., Rankins can do little beyond spectating.
