The New Orleans Saints are just about finished making assistant coaching moves this offseason as the team hired former Ole Miss co-defensive coordinator/secondary coach Wesley McGriff as its new secondary coach Monday night.
McGriff replaces Ken Flajole, who Coach Sean Payton fired in late January after Flajole spent just one season in New Orleans. The Saints struggled mightily in pass defense last season finishing 31st in the NFL surrendering 292.6 passing yards per game.
McGriff spent one season with Ole Miss after spending the 2011 season with Vanderbilt in the same position. McGriff was the secondary coach at Miami (Fla.) the previous four years. McGriff also held coaching positions at Baylor, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky State and Savannah State during his 22 years of experience.
