New Orleans Saints Potential Salary Cap Casualties after the Draft (1 Viewer)

Sad to say I clicked on this article just to see who the other players would be in order to make this long enough to be an article.

Robinson isn't going to be a cap casualty. He's already taken a reduced salary, so he'll be given the chance to earn a spot. If he doesn't play well, then he'll get cut.

Noah Spence is an edge pass rush specialist. He isn't going to bump Mario Edwards, Jr. off the roster. Edwards is a run stuffer who can kick inside. As with Robinson, Edwards will get cut if he somehow doesn't play well.

A lot of run-stoppers at DT with Shy Tuttle, Malcom Brown, and Mario Edwards. But Brown and Edwards have to be outplayed by Taylor Stallworth and Malcom Roach to be cut.

$5 million each of the next two seasons is a lot for Malcom Brown to be the 4th DT but he’s still effective depth right now. Now next season Brown will have to restructure if we need cap to re-up Winston

feels like in order for Easton to be expendable you would want to keep Warford and I don't think his play would warrant the difference in pay if you were choosing one. If either would likely be for depth then I don't see the choice being Larry.

Why is he saying Robinson was a huge liability in the secondary? The dude hardly played until late in the season and did okay when he finally did. Not saying being off the field was okay but doesn't line up with "liability" to me.

I think it is. I'd say Warford is at least 3-4 mil better than Easton. I don't want to go into the year forcing the young guys to start. I'd rather have Warford and make them earn their spots.

well its just one young guy. McCoy is definitely starting somewhere. And Id bet money Ruiz is too. If you draft interior that high, you aren't going to look very good if they aren't a starter. And Easton is another versatile guy. But I won't have strong feelings against whatever the staff decides is best.

Yeah that's just assuming Ruiz is going to be center. So he has to earn that spot over McCoy. Which I think is the general assumption. If so McCoy has to beat out Warford. I'm not too sure about that one. If Ruiz doesn't earn center he has to then try and earn the guard spot over Warford. Not sure what would happen there but it's probably the less likely scenario.

In short, you have this round robin thing where basically all 3 are competing. With Easton, I don't think there is much of a competition. He's just the backup.

I do like that Easton is younger and versatile but in this situation with Brees, I'd feel better with the short term answer of knowing you have the best 5 you possibly can this year. #6 should be damn good also.

Getting rid of Easton would be pure foolishness. He played extremely well last season, and with the Warford debacle ongoing, why get rid of him? Now, if you keep Warford, then I could understand it.

My bet is Warford will get traded. Too much chatter about Warford this off-season.
I also believe that we got good UDFA DB's.
DBs - Tio Ellison and Keith Washington very well might bump Patrick Robinson off the roster. I'm thinking especially Ellison. He's big, long, with speed, and leaping ability.

I think this is one of those really crappy fly by night websites that puts out really poor content.
