The New Orleans Saints announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with veteran offensive lineman Jamar Nesbit, the team’s starter at left guard the past two seasons. The announcement was made by Saints’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Nesbit, a 6-4, 328-pound product of the University of South Carolina, has been with the Saints the past four seasons and has been a starter the past two campaigns. A veteran of nine NFL seasons, Nesbit broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 1999 with the Carolina Panthers before moving to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003 via free agency. He has played in 133 career regular season games and started 87 throughout his career and has been a mainstay on the Saints’ offensive line the past two seasons, starting the team’s past 35 games, including two postseason contests.

Nesbit joins center Jonathan Goodwin, wide receiver Terrance Copper and kicker Martín Gramatica as players that have re-signed with the team prior to the start of the unrestricted free agency period, which is to commence on February 29.
