The New Orleans Saints brought in Rob Ryan to revive the league’s worst defense and the team will switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defensive scheme. With Ryan’s as the new defensive coordinator, he brought along some of his former players. One player that Ryan brought along with him to New Orleans is linebacker Victor Butler. Butler was not a big name offseason acquisition for the Saints, but he will definitely make an impact as the Saints look to improve their defense.

With Butler in the fold, it is speculated that he will be a lock to be one of the starting outside linebackers. Butler is the most familiar with Ryan’s defense and in a starting role he could make a bigger impact than he has in the past. Last season for the Dallas Cowboys, Butler had 25 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovered and defended three passes in all 16 games. Butler produced all of those numbers in a limited role last season for the Cowboys. With a starting role, his production should go up.
