When former Nottingham High School and Rutgers University football player Saquan Hampton was growing up, he made some visits to Arm & Hammer (nee Waterfront) Park to see professional baseball players take the field.
Now, it will be others that will be in the stands watching Hampton play as a pro.Hampton was taken with the 177th pick of the 2019 National Football League Draft in April by the New Orleans Saints, who were one terrible call away from a trip to the Super Bowl in February. The player, who has already been down in Louisiana for the team OTA and rookie minicamp, will now try to help the Saints make it a little bit further in 2019.
“It was a long process,” Hampton said of the draft. “My friends and families, we watched every second of it. When the call came, it was just surreal. It was a dream come true.
