New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said in the preseason that the four exhibition games would be crucial for Garrett Grayson.

Grayson struggled, and therefore will not hold his spot on the 53-man roster. The Saints waived the quarterback they selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, according to a league source.

The waiving of Grayson leaves the Saints with two quarterbacks on the active roster, with Luke McCown as the lone backup to Drew Brees.
