New thoughts on Trufant.... (1 Viewer)

Take it for what you want, but I actually watched the Pro Bowl this past wkend and one thing was eye popping to me and I don't know if any of you guys noticed: The AFC QBs went after Trufant hard and he could not stay with those guys. He just did not look good against the AFC WRs. I have a feeling he benefited from a generous pass rush in Seattle and now I'm not so sure about him. They did not throw towards Al Harris. It didn't dawn on me until big Ben got in. Peyton worked him, and then Ben was doing the same thing. GO back and watch it if possible... Now some will chalk it up to it being a "pro bowl game" but it stuck out.

I'm just saying....

WOW, I sure hope your not a scout, cause your obviously looking at the wrong game to judge him....try regular season games and play off tapes.....not the all star game...who plays hard in that game? its probalby the first time you got to see him play, which is why you started this thread, because Trufant is a good cover corner.

Everyone pretty much summed it up but I'll add my 2 cents. Are you seriously evaluating a player by his play in the Pro-Bowl? It's just a free vacation for all those players and their families.

I saw him play the Saints and he didn't impress me then either. I'm not saying he's not good I'm just saying he is not what a lot of people think he is, even though he'd be an upgrade over what we have.

I actually wouldn't mind having a guy like Trufant. Asante Samuels also, I think he is a good CB but he benefits from playing in a system that plays a lot of zone which can free him up to roam a certain area. Trufant would be a better fit in the system we employ, which calls for more man coverage.

Neither of these guys will be here so it'll be some other team's fans talking about them. We'll probably target Florence from SD due to the cap. We have our own guys to re-up.

Jason David and Pro-bowl should never be in the same sentence.

For that reason, Jason David should never be mentioned in any sentence period.

As for Trufant, I agree on what everyone said, although, I did see him cover a receiver (I forgot who it was, I think it was Houshmandzadeh) like a shadow. The play resulted in a TD, but it was due in part to a near perfect throw and a perfect catch.

Antonio Cromartie sure did look good though:hihi: .

I'm against dumping a ton of $$ on any CB in FA... As much as I like Trufant I don't want us to spend CB money on him without addressing the fact that we get NO rush on the QB... no secondary would look good behind our front 7.

Exactly, if we had a good pass rush Jason David would be GOO......oh, wait.....no, he wouldn't be any better :covri:.

I will say this right now. Assante=Jason David. Book it, take it for what it is worth but we should let the other teams break the bank on Assante. The dude is 5'10 185, sound familiar? We should go after a cornerback who is younger and more hungry. We do have to get the cornerback through FA but not Assante please.
