I have a group of friends that are talking about going to the SB if the Saints make it. They have contacts and I am fairly certain that a ticket will be available to me for the "going rate," which I understand starts at around $2,600 for a nosebleed ticket.

I can afford to go and recognize that the Saints in the big game may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, but I have heard different pundits say that the Superbowl itself is somewhat of a letdown given the cost and effort involved and because the atmosphere is not particularly special due to the fact that most people attending the game are not really fans of either team, but consist mostly of corporate types who were given tickets and go to the game just because it is the SB. I have heard it said that the better experience from a fan perspective is to attend the conference championship game, especially if it is hosted by your team. I have to imagine that if the Saints win and the Bears lose, an NFC Championship game in the Dome would be on par with the excitement of the Monday Night Football Falcons game (which was simply unbelievable), perhaps even better.

These factors, along with the fact that Saints would seem to have a much tougher matchup in the SB (likely against the Ravens or Chargers) are causing me to rethink the whole SB pilgrimage idea and consider focusing on the NFC Championship game instead.

Any thoughts from those who have actually been to the SB or a conference championship game?

10 years ago I said " If the saints ever make it to a superbowl, I will pawn, borrow, steal, or do what ever I have to , to be there", but now, I am certain that a Confr. Champ. game would be 10 times better if it was in the dome..JMO

You are probably right, but you have to admit that both situations will be incrediblely surreal!

I am sure for a your franchises, like Dallas, New England, Green Bay, etc. The Superbowl is expected and the value may go down for those fans. But for us Saints fans, I dont think you can put a $ amt on what that game will be like, even IF it is the worst game you have ever attended.

Your right..Because for us it has more meaning I think..No matter where and when the game is, and no matter where I am watching it...There will be LOTS of tears from my family !!!!!

Superbowl the worse game to attend... how about sitting on the couch and watching 5 hours of pregame. Now that's tough. Hopefully we won't be pulling for the commercials this year.
