NFC Playoff Team Stats: Week 12 - 16 (1 Viewer)

That's startling how well we stack up against the mighty Bears on defense. This is going to be one fun postseason.

Did a comparison between Saints and Eagles prior to our win against them (pre-Garcia) at the beginning of the season and Saints and Eagles in their past 4 wins.

Beginning Saints: 25 Off 16.25 Def = 8.75 Average Spread
Current Saints: 34.25 Off 11.75 Def = 22.5 Average Spread

Beginning Eagles: 31 Off 19.4 Def = 11.6 Average Spread
Current Eagles: 26.75 Off 18 Def = 8.75 Average Spread

Granted this is off a small amount of games, but I think the McNabb Eagles were stronger on offense than the Garcia Eagles. Saints oppents during the last 4 wins are a bit stronger than the beginning opponents. The eagles have played very slightly weaker teams than the beginning Eagles. All based on current records though. Still trying to figure what the experts mean by them being the hot team right now. Saints, Bears, and the Eagles have all won 4 out of 5 games prior to week 17.

Thanks for doing all of the work. Very impressive. I have to admit, I was thinking were were getting better on Defense but DANG, we are right there with the best of them. And at the right time too.

Bump again for your hard work. This should calm some nerves a little.

Wow. Those are some really telling statistics.

For quick reference

#1 First Downs
#1 Total net yards
#1 Total plays
#1 Yards Rushing
#1 Yards Passing
#1 Least Interceptions
#1 Total Points

#1 Fewest 1st Downs Allowed
#1 Fewest total net yards allowed
#1 Fewest plays allowed
#1 Fewest pass yards allowed
#1 points allowed

This is something the "experts" never seem to look at. We are obviously the best team in the NFC the last five games of the season, at least on paper. That 12.6 points per game allowed goes along with our top ranked defense in the last five games of the season as well.

Sure, we give up some rushing yards, but we don't allow many points and stiffen up when needed. That's what wins games, the last time I checked.

Not just on paper, Professor. Those results were created on "the field."

The thing that concerns me is the 5.58 avg rushing yards given up on defense. I think most of our success can be attributed to making teams abandon their game plan by scoring a lot of points. I feel like we will need to do this early against the Eagles, or else Westbrook may have a nice day.
