Since the advent of the conference championship game in 1970, eight NFC quarterbacks under age 25 have attempted to reach the Super Bowl, and all have failed. There’s nothing particularly magical about that age, but it seems to be a barrier over which Goff, who turned 24 last October, will need to scale.

The last under-25 quarterback to play for the NFC championship was Atlanta’s Michael Vick in 2005. Vick, then 24, went 11 of 24 for 136 yards and one interception and Philadelphia beat Atlanta 27-10.

Since then, there’s been a youth movement among NFC quarterbacks. San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick (age 25), Seattle’s Russell Wilson (25) and Carolina’s Cam Newton (26) all reached the Super Bowl within the past six years, and the Eagles’ Carson Wentz (25) seemed headed there last year before a knee injury.

Still, that’s an 0-8 record for under-25 quarterbacks, and the Rams know it better than any franchise.

Ron Jaworski was 24 when his Rams lost to Dallas in 1976. Pat Haden was 23 the following year in a loss to Minnesota. Dieter Brock was 24 in 1985 when the Rams lost to Chicago. Those three quarterbacks, combined, completed 30 of 75 attempts for 374 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions. None did well.

The Saints will make that 0-9 this Sunday. WHO DAT BABY!!!

Marino and Big Ben were babies, Mahomes should join them.

There is a fascinating what if...If KC hadn't traded up and Lattimore was off the board, supposedly we would've taken Mahomes.

It would have been good for our future, but terrible for our window with Drew. However, it is quite possible Mahomes stats are inflated by having an elite tight end and speed receiver. Ntm an underrated number two receiver who is really a number one on most other teams.

Yeah, Lattimore has certainly been an important piece our past 2 seasons. I still think Payton would've found a way to make Mahomes work, even though you are right that Hill & Kelce help him a lot. But he would've had Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara here, too.
