The three jewels of this draft class feature two defensive players and an offensive lineman.

Taken fourth overall, Gaines Adams was expected to develop into a premier pass rusher. After a rough start, he showed flashes of his immense ability towards the end of the year. He had five sacks in his final eight games, including one of Eli Manning in the playoffs.

Unlike Adams, Jackson was not expected to be an immediate starter following his fourth-round selection. However, he played so well during training camp and the preseason that he replaced incumbent starter, Will Allen, and started every game for the Bucs' second-ranked defense.
