NFC West: Do you buy the hype? (1 Viewer)

Let me start off by saying that every year there are teams that had unprecedented success the year pryor, and stock up during free agency, only to fail once actual games start being played. San Francisco and Seattle fit this formula, the difference being that SF has proven for a second straight year that they are legit. Now, the question is: do you buy the hype that Seattle and San Fran are the top contenders for the Super Bowl this year, or not, and why?

SF? Yeah, I think they are really good.

Seattle? No, I think they aren't as good as they looked late last season.

I would say the NFL West is very strong, or has the potential to be very strong.

I think the NFC West will be the toughest division in the NFL this season.

San Francisco-- very strong.
Seattle--very strong.
St. Louis--much improved, and went 4-1-1 against division opponents last season.
Arizona? If they can get a decent offense (QB) they will be tough.

The NFC has become a defensive powerhouse. But you need a good offense to be consistent.

Im not, and never have been sold on QBs who rely on running the ball themselves to move the offense.

They always take the leaue by storm first year in an offense then fizzle out to become average at best players with occasional flash of stardom.

Wilson will drop off big time. So will keapernick by a good margin, just not as severely. RG3 is different, in that he doesn't rely on running, its just a giant bonus.

I think the Rams are gonna be dangerous if Fisher can get better production from Bradford, and could win the west. But bradfords gotta improve a good amount. Finally the Rams have good recievers, so its possible that it does happen.

Actually he does, it was a staple of the offense last year, the read option. The Seahawks didn't use the read option that often. The least out of the teams that used it and Wilson was more of a pocket qb. The thing is, the way the 49ers offense is, and how the defense does a great job, Kaepernick doesn't have to do that much.

NFC west is strong and they gave us fits when they were incredibly weak (2010). It's going to be a tough challenge, but we'll sweep that division this year!

Between SF and Seattle? I would choose Seattle due to coaching.

Harbaugh inherited a decent team that was build on the defensive side by a legend (although said legend couldn't lead for squat).. Carroll built Seattle.

Also due to tantrums....tantrums are a huge tell in my book.

They play some serious defense in that division. I am buying it. In fact falclowns miss the playoffs because they go 0-4 against them.

The west is way better than the overrated, overhyped, NFC (L)East

NFC West is strong, b/c their D is strong....that means, they will be in every game till the end....sure they'll lose some, but as long they have that murderous D they will be a huge factor. I think thew NFC West is the strongest div. in football.

Having a better record than last year will be an improvement for the Saints. I have no idea if the Saints are a playoff team...not yet anyway. It all depends how fast is the D gets their house in order. That would be a good indicator. But if we rely on W Smith to rush the passer, & R Harper to cover TEs...we're done in short order.

Today the news is....Victor Butler is our OLB starter, or, is his job to lose, according to the front page article.....that means, our resident OLBs...Galette & Wilson are backups......that's what I was afraid of from the beginning.

This would be a tough year...especially early, unless the D comes around somehow, and starts making plays.

I didn't realize Butler was going to play both OLB positions at the same time. Must have missed it when we signed him that he was a shape shifter.
