NFL sets 2017 salary cap at $167 million; Saints have $30.86 million in available cap space (1 Viewer)

I'm happy about having that much to use, especially seeing what we've done with less than 10 mill for the last few seasons. I just wish some of the pass rushers were still on the market.

We could get a good CB during free agency and draft one too. We will have to find a starting FS to compete with Bell. We need a high caliber LB and HAVE to have a pass rusher opposite cam.

Now, don't be surprised when the FO signs a QB right out of the gate :covri:.

Good pass rushers are usually made happy to remain in the roost they're in. We have not found anything of the caliber of Jabari Greer in FA since, er, Jabari Greer. Nor have we ever replaced Jonathan Vilma from FA(nor Carl Nicks, but we drafted him). That's after going through a lot of players.

Were we just stupidly lucky before? Because of late no one seems to be able to find anything but cubic zirconiums, not a diamond in the bunch. Since we do seem able to pick good receivers from the air, maybe we should ONLY pick receivers, then trade with someone who knows how to pick linemen and backs.

The common wisdom was 'Don't put all your eggs in one basket'. We've been avoiding doing that for some years now. John Carnegie said 'Put all your eggs in ONE basket. Then, watch the basket.' Let's try that!

Draft! Groom, improve them! THEN pay them! This habit of searching the bins for oft injured players has not paid off at all. If we're going to trade, get MORE picks, not fewer. Since there's every aspect of a crapshoot in drafting, let's get the odds in our favor.

Please, don't bury us again with a FA that isn't worth the money anymore. And, find someone who knows what a good lineman or linebacker looks like!
