Great move by the No Fun League (NFL)... and kind of surprised that they were bold enough to award a category that brings a QB to the turf. :hihi:

Just wondering if any of you feel that 'Tez, Junior, Cam Jordan or another Saint has a legitimate shot at being the FIRST to receive this new award?

Y! SPORTS

...some funny moments in this vid :spit:

It would have been nice if the NFL had actually thought of this BEFORE the man died so he could enjoy knowing an award was named for him. This should have been done a decade or more ago.

From the linked article.

"Sacking the quarterback is like when you devastate a city, or you cream a multitude of people," Jones said during one of his memorable interviews with NFL Films. "You take all the offensive linemen and put them in a burlap bag, and then you take a baseball bat and beat on the bag. You're sacking them, you're bagging them. And that's what you're doing with a quarterback."

I am telling my age but I was priveledged to watch both of those guys play.

It wasn't pretty if you were on the other team and children should have never witnessed it. They both played nasty..............just plain nasty!!:covri:

According to the records at pro-football-reference, a Saint has led the league in sacks twice since the stat was officially recorded in 1982.

In 1991, Pat Swilling led the league with 17.0 sacks, and LaRoi Glover led the league in 2000, also with 17.0 sacks. I think that data would suggest that we're due to lead the league again soon!

I'm with you, Chuck.

I believe it will be Junior. I would say 'Tez, but he gets caught too deep upfield on a pass rush too often. Junior, on the other hand, appears to be more disciplined and instinctive. But you never know... maybe Martez can be coached-up to get it done.

Deacon Jones was one of the greats with him gone the NFL too will pass into the new era that does not reminisce over the big physical hits that marked the era before.

Exactly. Leave it to the maggot to be a decade late. Also shouldn't he suspend himself since this in effect is a bounty?
