Anybody planning to watch the draft tonight?
Not a very “star studded” class, but I’ll probably track it in the background.

Expecting the Pens to go Defenseman, even with re-signing Letang recently.

Stars went with a big defenseman. 6’5”, 215lb Swede Lian Bichsel. Maybe we’ll see him in Dallas in 3 years or so.

As expected, the Pens grabbed a Defenseman in the first - Owen Pickering from the WHL. 6’4” 176lb frame will need to fill out a bit more, but he is expected to play 2 more seasons in Juniors so that should give him plenty of time to bulk up.

Long reach and smooth skating mechanics are a major +. Will need to work on situational awareness, based on some of the clips I’ve seen, but that will come with proper coaching.

In my opinion, a very solid pick.

Hockey returns to Baton Rouge with 3 exhibition games, could lead to new team

BATON ROUGE - The capital city will host a run of hockey games at the River Center starting later this year with the intent of launching a new team in Baton Rouge if there's enough demand.

If anyone is starving for live hockey, the Hlinka Gretzky Cup is on today on NHL Network. At 4pm CDT, USA v Finland, then at 8pm, Germany v Czech Republic. It's all Junior players.

I see they are trying to bring some Hockey back to BR. They will have a few games in December to test the market to see if BR wants hockey back. I had gone to several KingFish games back when they were playing. I enjoyed them..
