Nick Underhill: Saints Might Not Move on from DA (3 Viewers)

I won’t say that I am “Out,” but certainly any excitement going into the new year would be lost. It would easily be the least anticipated football season of my life.

We are not going to ever win anything significant with this coach. This is the definition of insanity.

I'll be honest, if this milquetoast dweeb with all the charisma of a wet paper towel is back next season, I'll be done till he's gone. I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt that maybe Carmichael really was forced on him by Loomis, but I'm not seeing anything different from DA when the going gets tough. Just the same meaningless platitudes and nothing that makes me think anyone on Airline gives a damn.

Underhill also said to expect multiple notable players to be shipped out this previous offseason to preserve DA's culture. Which didn't happen. All the talk of Lattimore wanting out and he stayed, didn't demand a trade, and performed at a level that easily makes him the best player on the defense and one of the top Corners in the league. Kamara could have just let the Saints cut him and gone to finish his career with Sean Payton in the Orange and Blue version of the Saints, instead he signed an extension to stay in New Orleans.

There was a huge amount of concern that Carmichael had saved his job with how the Saints offense finished last season. Then when he wasn't fired on Black Monday, serious panic set in. He still got fired.

I totally get the sentiment that we're stuck with DA because of the support/silence from the front office he's gotten, but history says that Loomis and co. aren't going to make a move with a coach until the offseason and they won't do it on Black Monday either.

It's like deja vu over the past 3 years. We'll have some sort of band aid in the Offseason, like trade everything for 1 guy in the first, or restructure everybody to sign some above average free agent to superstar money. By May, everyone here will be smoking tons of copium and predicting a 10-6 season at minimum. And it will happen all over again. Or worse, the blind squirrel will stumble into a wildcard game and get re-signed for another 4 years while Mick pats himself on the back. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Don't forget the end season tear to win enough games to take us out of contention for a high draft pick and screw ourselves out of a franchise-defining player.

This franchise is becoming a disgrace sadly. I’ll always be a fan, but it seems like what’s going on right now is managed decline. People down play the cap situation, but it is playing a role in this too. To get under the cap we have to keep extending guys that should not be part of a rebuild.
