Nick Underhill: Saints should “unequivocally” try to trade for the Raiders’ Hunter Renfrow (1 Viewer)

Giving up a 4th for a strong WR3/starter-quality receiver wouldn’t be a bad move at all. Injury setbacks can happen at any time at WR. We’re getting two additional 4ths in comp. picks

I wouldn’t be too upset if it was just a 4th. Not that it matters if I’m upset or not lol.

We already traded one 4th away to get Haener. I would expect him to only draw a 6th or so, but would not melt if they gave up a 4th for him.

if this is real, and renfro can be acquired for a 4th, Saints should do it if the contract can be structured even semi reasonable. He's an absolute baller, always making big plays when they are needed most. Terrific route runner, good hands. Raiders would be crazy to let him go.

We are an injury away from having to start a below average player.
Same as most of the league, then. Quite why this is an alien concept to many, remains a mystery to me.

Love Nick and NOF, it’s become a bigger go to for me than SR, having said that….I disagree on Renfrow. Hope we don’t give up a thing for him.
NOF has expanded greatly recently and their content and podcasts are outstanding. For me, well worth the minimal monthly fees. In terms of Renfrow, I just don’t think we need to spend more on the WR position, considering the cost in salary and draft capital.

Because you should make an effort to have a competent backup. Our backup guys are all unproven. It's not hard to get a solid vet that has some skins on the wall and that is cool with playing limited snaps.

Always liked Renfro, I would be fine giving up a comp pick for him, he is a proven, quality slot receiver and with our injury history at WR we need all the depth we can get.....

Funny thing though, people posted the very same last off-season and yet as the season arrived, they realised one of our "unproven backup guys" was more than capable. That Kaden Ellis fella... There's an example if it ever was needed that our armchair analysis of the backups already on the squad aren't necessarily as accurate as we like to think.

Further, the league is awash with solid, veteran free agent LBs that aren't necessarily good enough to stay on a roster, but can be signed to fill in if necessary as and when the injury bug bites.

The primary issue would be Renfrow's contract.

Ellis is not a good example. He was with us for years and had played snaps many times before. So his familiarity with our system helped him to succeed. Signing a vet off the street when an injury hits should be a last resort. No excuse to not have better talent at LB in the building now.
