Nick Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (185 Viewers)

If I've learned anything about NFL speak is that you don't believe what they say, you believe what they do. Loomis very well may be arrogant enough to continue the same failed methods that resulted in the team being so thin that they ended up 5-12 in 2024, but no moves have been made yet. We'll see what the bulk of the plan is within two weeks.

I have no confidence at this point that Loomis is capable of bold moves, but a small glimmer of hope remains that he can recognize that he's recently done a bad job as a GM and change course in some way. If not this year, then next. But if this team is just as lacking of talent, with no future QB, finishing ~.500 and just as mediocre going into 2027, he should see the same fate as DA did from Gayle.

Eventually after enough bad seasons Loomis will be the one on the chopping block. I'm not sure who else would you blame if another bad season was the result of more salary cap gymnastics.

If Loomis wants to do an extension to spread out the cap hit. They have to work with Carr on that.
No extension needed. With the void years he still has 5 on the current contract. That is the max you can prorate a signing bonus.

I think despite Nick's reporting this issue is far from decided.....but I hope if they do keep Carr that it will be an open competition in camp for the QB position....

I don't know if all this is performative theatrics from the organization to keep a facade of a well run organization.

There is just no way that you can think you can compete with this mess of a roster.

So, I'll will need to see moves that actually back up this delusion of competing.

Sure I can, and I do.

It's worth posting and also worth pointing out Nick was dialed in on Mike McCarthy as some sort of front runner for the HC Job and we didn't even schedule an interview w/ him.
I really felt like he was reaching for anything during that time period. Like maybe the Saints went on radio silence through the coach-search and even Nick's sauces dried up.

If I would've had to throw a blind dart around that time, I'd have gone with McCarthy too. Kellen Moore seemed like a "too-good-to-be-true" hope and prayer.

Random bots on twatter arent worth the time.
That's not a bot.

People may really feel that way because they didn't get what they want. Saints Twitter is filled with hive mind culture.
