Nick Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (218 Viewers)

If I've learned anything about NFL speak is that you don't believe what they say, you believe what they do. Loomis very well may be arrogant enough to continue the same failed methods that resulted in the team being so thin that they ended up 5-12 in 2024, but no moves have been made yet. We'll see what the bulk of the plan is within two weeks.

I have no confidence at this point that Loomis is capable of bold moves, but a small glimmer of hope remains that he can recognize that he's recently done a bad job as a GM and change course in some way. If not this year, then next. But if this team is just as lacking of talent, with no future QB, finishing ~.500 and just as mediocre going into 2027, he should see the same fate as DA did from Gayle.

On the bright side, maybe it means Moore likes Rattler better than the young vet QBs that are available in free agency but wants to give him one more year behind Carr unless he beats Carr out in camp? And I really hope Rattler can beat Carr out in camp.

That's not a bot.

People may really feel that way because they didn't get what they want. Saints Twitter is filled with hive mind culture.
Random NPCs on a non specialized social media(like SR or a subreddit) are bots. Regardless of anything else. No different than over hearing a random conversation in public, its meaningless.

Ok i get your point.

I was only posting it as a joke.

In fairness, Nick is basing his assessment more on the cap and his expectations about how the Saints might approach the challenges associated with Carr's contract.

My understanding is that it can go either way (because of the cap_ with a strong sense that Carr's foot is more out the door than in it. But we shall see.
Its not just Nick, around 50 media outlets are reporting it.

So apparently the Saints/Moore have met with Carr and it went well. It points to him likely staying but I also know that there are people who want to move on.
who wants to move on from Carr, you mean Saints fans?

I have been pretty vocal about wanting to move on from Carr (and no, not because I have some personal vendetta, it is just what I personally think is best for the team). But, if Carr IS the plan for 2025 then I hope like hell they trade down in this draft and recoup another first rounder next year so that we have the ammo to move up in 2026 for a QB, rather than mortgage future draft picks. Because we all know that Carr as QB1 = drafting in the teens. We’ll win just enough to keep us out of the top 5. And even if Carr balls out he is not the long term solution here.

I figured they would keep him at least for this season, so no shock from me. We're gonna win just enough games to get a mid-to-late teens pick in next year's draft. Oh well.

My biggest fear is finishing middle of a pack and missing out on a top QB next year. He’s not bad enough to the point we will only win 2 games or not good enough to where I say we are winning 10 lol.

2026 QB class won't be given up on trades since it's top heavy. You either have to suck enough to get that 1st pick or the 2nd pick or don't draft a QB.

Last few posts are fair points. Even with rebuilt lines, it's wholly possible to see improvement only to about 8-9 or 9-8, which would warrant the dreaded "trading up" to get one of the expected S-tier QBs in '26.

Add Garrett Nussmeier's dad being on the staff to the list of potentially peculiar circumstances at that point.
