What a performance yesterday against Frank Gore. Big ups to Hollis, Scott, Charles and all the Saints defenders. Yes, some of the pass defense was again suspect, but against the run, they were as good as you can expect.

Coming into the game, Frank Gore had rattled off three impressive performances of 159, 212 and 134 yards rushing in the last three games- and another 71 yards receiving across that span. I watched him in the replay of the game against the Rams and he was an absolute beast.

Sunday, the Saints held him to a season-low output of just 40 yards rushing- an average per carry of just 3.1 yards.

I have been saying for the past few weeks that the Saints run-defense statistics are misleading. Vick's rushing yards didnt' come against a run defense scheme, and almost 200 of yards given up were to Willie Parker on two plays. It has just seemed that, for most of the season, the Saints have been pretty solid against runners who carry the ball north/south and between the tackles. Sunday's performance underscores this. We aren't as good, IMO, against speedier, corner guys like Willie Parker- so we'll have our hands full Sunday with Marion Barber and Julius Jones.

But great job yesterday against Frank Gore- one of the NFL's toughest runners this year.

Bush beats Gore, no recount needed.
