So I have a room for Sat-Tuesday for next weekend......but it now looks like I'll be coming into town on Friday.

And I checked tonight, short of $600, there's NOTHING available.

So I have a question for the locals......

Where would be the best place to stay for restaurants, cool town, etc. on Friday.

1. Hammond
2. Slidell
3. Mandeville

Thanks in advance,
Outback

Go to priceline and there are 2.5 star hotels in Kenner for 150 with guest review scores over 7 which is good. I have used priceline at least 100 times and everytime they have hotels with good ratings they end up being very nice.

Did you try Laplace? There are nice Hotels right by the Interstate and its closer than the Citys you listed.

The Westbank is also an option. Gretna/Algiers is like a 5 to 10 minute drive away, if you stay near the bridge.

Wanna stay at my house? (totally just kidding)

It looks like you are looking at the Northshore, though, so I'll focus on that since that's the 3 you threw out. I wouldn't call Slidell "cool" exactly, but there are a couple just over the Twin Span (another one coming but not open yet) and a few viable ones at the Hwy 190 exit off I-10 and lots of restaurants which would be the closest to NOLA (besides New Orleans East. Not much there but worth a look maybe).

Hammond is not bad but further away, Mandeville would be right over the Causeway which in itself is 26 miles but both have options. Keep in mind, we're not talking anything approaching luxury with doorman or onsite restaurant, etc. We're talking your typical business-like hotel, new or newish, maybe small pool and/or fitness center and located near an entrance to the highway. (I've stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham in Slidell, 24 miles from the city, very nice, and looks like about $110 for Friday.)

Look quick, though. Even these areas fill up as others will probably be doing the same thing you are.

If transportation is not an issue, why not stay at one of the casinos in Mississippi gulf coast.

Mandeville would be my choice.

In the fall, hotel rooms in New Orleans can be a challenge. Conventions. Saints games. And don't forget about the cruise ships that leave on Saturday and Sunday.

Really appreciate it. So it sounds like Mandeville, Laplace, Hammond Slidell are all nice enough, yes?

Yeah, depending on what all your parameters are. It's just for that one night, right? You want specific recommends? I can help you fairly well for all but LaPlace. I know nothing about LaPlace these days.

just stay outside the "city" and take UBER where you want to go or LYFT

Plus its Voodoo fest next week too.

Try Hotels.com, sometimes they have a few rooms blocked out for last min reservations.

When we fly in for a game we always stay at the County Inn & Suites in Covington or Slidell. Both places are really nice!

Mandeville/Covington is your best bet. There are some really good restaurants and few cool bars, as well, if that's what you're looking for.

Yeah, I always use hotels.com. They are filling up fast for next weekend even in outlying areas and the prices are up a bit as well.
