If we lose our next 3, we go 8-7. If Carolina wins their next 3, they go 9-6...

This means that even if we lose our next three, and carolina wins their next 3, we still only have to beat carolina to win the nfc south. Because we would both be 9-7, but we would be 5-1 in the NFC South, and they would be 4-2.

So there you go folks... No matter what else happens this season, all we have to do is beat Carolina and we're in.

yes, there are other paths that lead us to the playoffs... Just letting you guys know that regardless of who wins or loses in the next 3 weeks, a win against Carolina puts us in the playoffs.

great post, but let's hope it doesn't happen that way

I'll take it anyway we can get it but man this way would not do my heart any good.

I agree, I wouldnt want it to come down to that game... It just feels good to know that the worst we can do is a home game showdown for the NFC South.

Nice job figuring that up. As a lifelong Saints fan, I can definitely understand your thinking (I would've done the same thing), but I don't think that will be necessary this year. Saints win the division going away I think.

You forgot about Atlanta, who is 6-6

if Carolina wins their next three, one of those wins will have to be against Atlanta

No I didnt... Shhhhhhhh.....

Dangit, youre right though. We'd need a combination of 2 Saints wins, 1 win + 1 Falcons loss, or 2 falcons losses, to make my scenario work.

Luckily, in my scenario, the 1 falcons loss is to the panthers, and our one win is against the panthers....

The topic title isn't assuming that the Panthers will beat the Falcons.

It simply states that if we win the final game we win the division, which is not true.

Yes, but if Atlanta wins their last 3, and we lose our last 3, then we will not control our destiny as the original poster suggested.

the saints will win at least 2 more....the panthers at home on new years and the deadskins....we have a good enough team to beat the cowboys and the giants for sure, but those will be the toughest games we have left

yeah yeah yeah, I was wrong. I was too caught up in the excitement of the Carolina loss. Maybe my thread can die a painless natural death and slip to the second page... :p
