Obama promises to "slow development of future combat systems".. (1 Viewer)

Another reason as much as I like him on a personal and overall message level I can't vote for Obama because of where he is on a policy level. McCain is just closer to my politics which is ashame because I really like Obama the candidate.

Okay, that was scary. Is he that nieve? That is the motherload of ammo for McCain come general election.

im the same way - and i think that will be the way it will play out - his fresh approach will win him the nomination, his position of several things will cost him the general election.

its a matter of separating the man from the "job" - which is why he will beat Hilliary, he is a better candidate than her but not sure he would be a better president.

he says things that i notice more so then the other 2 , they arent major things just things i dont like politicians to say.

like last night he spoke of giving a sermon on MLK day - nothing wrong with that in and of itself but not from a politician - i dont like that "mixture" of church and state much like Huckabe seemed to have

Bill Clinton could hide behind the figleaf of the DLC and expound free trade, welfare reform, and other policies anthema to the left wing. This view is distilled boilerplate. Moderate voters will find this and other issues interesting to contemplate.

Obama's electoral strength is garnered in a hermetic box of similar views among the original nine candidates, finishing with a flawed spouse with baggage and a Nurse Rachet "Cuckoo's Nest Tone". Recall Obama did not run against a qualified candidate, Jack Ryan, for US Senate due to a sex scandal in which Ryan was hawking porn photos of his actress wife Jeri Ryan. Jack quit the race and Obama ended up running against the crazed Alan Keyes.

Tony Blankley, in today's Real Clear Politics, gives a primer for McCain. I disagree with his premise. Some of the Hildebeest strategy can be applied because this is a wider electorate not given to swoons. play that tape a few times, and Bill Cunningham's extolling of Obama's middle name will be prescient. Dukakis led the hapless Bush 41 by 17 points in the summer of 1988. It's not impossible.

From a cost and efficiency perspective, there is ample evidence, including from within DOD (the IG in particular) that overly ambitious weapon systems development schedules are a tremendous problem.

Meh...I don't agree with everything he says his plans for the military but that spot was just one long way of him saying that he's not giving the Pentagon a blank check. Nothing sinister.

Even his "world without nuclear weapons" bit was just fluff. He's not going to unilaterally disarm us and even if he somehow managed to cut the arsenal in half, we would still have more than enough to take care of business if we needed to. It bears mentioning that in 62 years we've just detonated a nuclear weapon twice as part of a military action so only having 5,000 (if it ever came to that) is no big deal.

Policy doesn't matter to the majority of voters. Catch phrases, flags, bibles and babies are all more important.

I have some concerns with Obama's ideas on national defense and as it relates, foreign policy, but then I have problems with our current military use and related foreign policy, too, and from what I'm gathering, McCain is planning a continuation along the same course.

It appears that we are doomed to invasion if Obama wins. I've got a contractor on the phone right now to build a bunker and safe room.

You guys waffle more than my wife. He solidly will have my vote and I am in the freggin military and he is right about some of the costs (I mean wastes). They hve mentioned cutting back on this before and many of us in the military agree with him. Very wasteful in most cases. Hey, (MacRanger show, drudge, briebart, heading right tabs etc). What kind of spin were you expecting to be on this? The sky is not falling.

Here is what I have deduced. Those who are going to vote for Obama are not waffling, not at all. It appears that the McCain voters are looking for a reason to stay solidly in his camp and can't find one. If you want to vote McCain, do so for reasons that HE HAS GIVEN YOU. Don't vote against a person, vote for someone.

I think you may have that reversed a bit. I think there's a lot of us planning on voting for McCain that would really like to vote for Obama and are hoping he can have a moment that changes our minds. The two thing preventing a lot of us are taxes and national defense (strong military).

people act like Obama won't have to deal with congress or the supreme court. There are checks and balances. I still not voting for Obama, i think he is Bill clinton v 2.0

It's the same thing. Obama voters are locked, hell motivated to tell the truth. McCain voters are wavering, regardless if it's looking to vote for the other person or not to vote for McCain. Semantics.

More importantly, the man is fool enough to announce it to our enemies. If he is CommanderInChief, the skies of the MiddleEast will be black with celebratory gunfire....

Yes, this is absolutely devastating considering how much Al Queda is spending to develop their next generation of nuclear submarines.

We will continue to develop and refine new weapons systems even though we are light years ahead of any potential adversary and currently spend more on the military than the rest of the world combined.

Sounds just right.

If we had spent even more perhaps we would have had a proper counter to the box cutter by September 2001????

Stop being a bunch of frady cats.
