It's hard to imagine a Week 5 game having so much on the line as this one does. Having suffered a critical loss to Green Bay was one thing, but having two other division opponents already sitting at 3-2 makes this practically a 'must win' game to keep us in the NFC South race.
The only positive thing about where we stand in the division right now is that by virtue of our win over the Bucs in Week 1, winning tonight would put the Saints back on top in the race for the NFC South crown with the best divisional record. It sure looks like winning the South division will have to be a top priority because there's still a lot we don't know about who will emerge as the teams to beat in the NFC. Every Game Counts!
It will also be important to get a win tonight since we will be going into our Bye week next Sunday and then have to face the ever-improving Panthers on 10/25. We need to stay healthy tonight and get everyone back to 100% for a stretch of games that could establish a firm hold of the top spot in our division, when the Saints will face division foes in 3 of the next 5 games after the Bye.
So let's beat the Chargers and get into our Bye week as the South leaders! Our Saints need to get ready for the remainder of the season which hopefully will be free of any additional Covid postponements. Keep those hands washed people!!!
