The College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be Tigers vs Tigers. I can think of numerous story lines that will play out and have listed a few below.

1. LSU and Clemson signed the home/home series earlier this year that starts in 2025/2026. These programs can build up a rivalry heading into that home/home series.

2. The game will feature the projected 2020 #1 pick and the projected 2021 #1 pick leading their respective offenses/teams.

3. LSU has to go through last year's Championship team for a National Championship.

4. The Legend of Joe Burrow. He is leading the team while rewriting individual and team records along the way.

Joe Burrow has certainly established himself as a living legend, both on-and-off the field to LSU fans but also SEC lore, football analysts, writers, and critics. That being said, this upcoming CFP National Title game will be his last collegiate game ever and if Dabo Swinney is as half as intelligent, crafty, as he thinks he is or has given others the impression of being he'll push the underdog narrative even more to his team and in doing so, highlight it's "Just another game, different ending" that Clemson has more talent, experienced, and can try an contain Burrow's explosive potential. Swinney is not stupid, if you devise a defensive strategy where you make LSU's offense one-dimensional relying on Burrow and eliminating Edwards running threat, he may burn up your secondary a few times but there's a better chance Clemson keeps the game close and increases the possibilities of Burrow making mistakes.

Clemson is riding a high-speed locomotive wave right now and for good reason, they found a way to grind out a tough, close, memorable CFP semifinal game vs. OSU team that many predicted would beat them and that Clemson had gotten here mostly due to a weak ACC schedule but this win gives them some major credibility that their not weak pushovers that have 60% of their CFP winning team last season. If they can go head--to-head with a very physical, talented Ohio St. and hold their own, that also gives them some major confidence they can pull off the same upset vs. LSU.

Any NCAAF team with a nearly 30 game winning streak is going to create a large degree of self-assurance, self-confidence, and near-unshakeable belief that your team can beat anyone, no matter the matchup problems, offensive/defensive lapses, or deficiencies. Clemson's current winning streak is very similar to USC Trojans streak of 35 games which lasted from late September 2003 to January 2006, by the time January 13th rolls around, it'll be over 2 years and different starting QB since Tigers lost a game and that loss, ironically occurred vs. Alabama in 2018 CFP semifinals in Superdome.

OSU was overrated. Even so, they should have beaten Clemson but gave them the game with dumb mistakes like the targeting, roughing the punter, and miscommunication on the interception to end the game. They also couldn't score in the red zone too many times, not so much b/c of great D by Clemson but b/c of dropped passes. Mark it down--LSU will not struggle in the red zone like OSU did. Clemson is not athletically superior to LSU. In fact, the real Tigers are definitely the better team. And Burreaux will not be making critical mistakes. This LSU team is completely dialed in. With CEH returning to 100% for the championship game, there is no way Clemson can stop us. It will be a much tougher game than OU, but Clemson does not have the horses to stop our offense, and our D will be able to do enough to slow Clemson down to keep them honest. And as far as confidence and self-belief, LSU has it in spades. They are quite a winning streak of their own, so I don't see any advantage there for Clemson.

You’d think the other 13 teams LSU played would’ve tried that by now. Especially the good defenses like Florida, Auburn, and Georgia. Auburn came the closest but this LSU team is not the same that played Auburn. They’re better. I’m afraid the defense you’re looking for 2884 belongs to an NFL team.

Teams that have blitzed Burreaux have paid for it. Teams that have rushed only 3 and dropped their LBs into coverage have paid for it. And don't underestimate the importance of CEH's full return to the offense. He is tremendous in pass pro, should Clemson try to get blitz happy, and he's a heckuva safety valve to check it down to if Jeaux is under pressure. The only team that had modest success against our O was Auburn, and that's b/c they have the kind of D line Clemson had last year, but no longer has. Saban is quite a defensive master mind and we saw how that went, so let Venables try his best. It won't be good enough.

A few times? Have you not been paying attention? Look at SECCG against a better ranked D than Clemson. They will have to pick their poison. Venables will have to guess where the ball is going.

They may make a game of it early on. But I thought the same vs UGA and then Oklahoma. Neither team had a chance.

LSU is running an NFL offensive scheme handed down from SP. Attack with so many weapons, that even reading "keys" can't tell you where the shot is coming from. It's overwhelming. And exactly why LSU will win the NC.

What I find even amazing than JBs great games, is the fact that there is no game that requires you to make an excuse “awe everyone has a bad game”. Even against Auburn he went over 300 yards at a 76 % completion percentage. He is money all the time. And his numbers show that he actually elevates his game against the best teams.

Another factor is that when OSU went uptempo, Clemson's D was lost, but OSU stupidly didn't use tempo for most of the game. LSU will go uptempo the entire game. I can't wait for this game. You know Burrow and company are licking their chops. Those slow Clemson LBs and safeties are about to get toasted.

Would love to know the schmidt-for-sure no-spin truth here. Can't believe nothing ever leaked.

Is it thought to have been the obvious "busted for weed" violation, and a few weeks in rehab made everything all right again? Did people know Divinity has been practicing for a few weeks now? Why didn't he play against Oklahoma?

So much wierdness. Probably a little dirty, too ... but ya gotta go a little dirty to win a title, I suppose.

Dirty? Dirty would have been trying to play Divinity against Georgia or even OU. He has served his suspension and deserves another chance. Coach O enforced discipline and Divinity has had to endure several weeks of not being able to play. There is nothing dirty about him being allowed to return for the championship game.

I guess there was a lot of bad fact-checking early on ... but weren't the initial reports that Divinity was kicked off the team forever, not just suspended?

Not sure why playing Divinity against Oklahoma would've been dirty but playing him in the title game is "suspension served, fair second chance". Coach O may have "enforced discipline", but we don't know anything about the paramters: what Divinity did to get suspended, whether or not Coach O has team punishments codified or if it's a play-by-ear thing for him, and so on.
