WHO DAT, Saints Nation, WHO DAT!!!! Our New Orleans Saints are in Southern California, for to play their second preseason game with the Los Angeles Chargers for the second straight preseason, one of two NFL preseason games scheduled this Sunday afternoon (Seahawks @ Vikings, the other NFL game) and televised nationally on The NFL On CBS Sports.

Both teams seek to win both their first preseason win, and win in 2019, as the Saints lost at the Mercedes Benz-Superdome, to the visiting Vikings 34-25, while the L.A. Chargers lost on the road to the Cardinals 17-13 at Glendale, AZ in both teams Week 1 preseason games last week.

Our Saints football team arrived earlier last week to Southern California to participate in team joint practices at the L.A. Chargers practice and team facilities in Costa Mesa in Orange County. Both teams traveled this morning northwest up Interstate 405, and into the City of Carson in the L.A. South Bay area to play this afternoon at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

This afternoon could be a marquee matchup, if at least for a few offensive series after the opening kickoff between the Saints Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara, versus the L.A. Charger Philip Rivers, and Antonio Gates. L.A. Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is still on a holdout on his contract issue.

Both the Saints and the L.A. Chargers are meeting and playing in their ninth preseason game. Who ever wins later this afternoon will lead from the current 4-4 tie. New Orleans has won the last three preseason meetings over the Chargers, and have not lost in the preseason since the Chargers edged our Saints by the score of 21-20 in both teams preseason finale, back on September 1, 1985.

New Orleans did not play the Chargers during the NFL preseason for another 25 years after 1985. Saints then began their current three-game preseason winning streak over the Chargers, when the Saints defeated the then-San Diego Chargers 36-21 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome back on August 27, 2010.

Saints then defeated the Chargers in the last two preseasons in 2017 and 2018, after the team moved north from San Diego, and became the Los Angeles Chargers.

Saints defeated the Chargers by the score of 13-7 back on August 20, 2017, and again winning 36-7 , on August 25, 2018 in the most recent preseason meeting both games at the same venue, then named the StubHub Center.

L.A. Chargers though currently leads the all-time regular season series over our Saints with their 7 win, 5 loss record. But New Orleans are currently on a three-game regular season winning streak, with wins during the 2008 and 2012 NFL seasons, Saints edged the Chargers by the score of 35-34, in both teams last regular season meeting, played in Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego back on October 2, 2016.

New York Jets Preseason, and Brooklyn Nets TV announcer Ian Eagle, and former University Of Oregon and San Diego Charger QB Dan Fouts, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Evan Washburn, are announcing the live TV game commentary for The NFL On CBS, televised throughout the USA, including locally in New Orleans, on WWL CBS Channel 5, all stations seen live on HD.

A mix of clear and partly cloudy skies at 77 degrees, is the local gamecast inside the Dignity Health Sports Park, located in Carson, CA, for the 3:05 PM Central Standard Time kickoff, along with 0% precipitation, 51% humidity, and west/southwest winds at 6 miles per hour.

Visiting Saints are wearing their gold helmets, Nike black jerseys, and gold pants, while the host L.A. Chargers are wearing their white helmets, Nike white jerseys, and white pants.

Great luck to all the Saints and L.A. Chargers players, especially the draft and undrafted college rookies, and signed veteran free agents, as all of them continue both their training camp and preseason, and audition on the playing field in live game action, to make the cut from the current 90-man roster, to the final 53-man regular season roster.

GEAUX SAINTS for your first preseason win in 2019 on the road at Carson, CAL, and WHO DAT!!!!!

My “Rookie Watch” today:

Last week, other than Erik McCoy ( who started n played quite well!) the rooks played some, but Im hoping to see more of them in today’s game.

On O, I want to see Ozigbo get more touches at RB. Hes got a nice size/speed combination n runs hard. Lil Jordan has been up n down in TC, but he made plays last week similar to the ones he regularly made in college at UT. And of course everyone wants to see Emmanuel Butler, the “star” of camp so far, and what he can do.

On D, I want to see more of Chauncey n Hampton, as well as Porter Gustin, who has lotsa ability as an edge rusher. But the player to keep an eye on today is Kaden Elliss. He’s a really good player, n with AA down, he’s been running some with the 1s at LB!

On STs, Deonte Harris did a nice job as a KR/PR last week. He looked really good on his lone punt return, for 23yds, which was called back by penalty. Hopefully he gets more opportunities there today, because it’ll be his PR ability that will be key to him making the 53.

Wishing the best for them, along with the rest of the team, and PLEASE no injuries today!

Who Dat! :9:

The guys on WWL radio are talking up the Chargers big time. Should be a tough game.

Anyone knows of the game is on any station in Chicago? I'm stuck in a conference today.
