Payton's play calling really went south during that last two minutes. Really? Two pass plays when all you need to do is wind the clock down on runs and walk off with the winning FG?
The Rams only had 2 timeouts left at that point. If we run the ball all 3 downs, they use their TOs on the first two downs, the playclock then runs all the way down on third down and then we kick the FG on fourth down. If we did that, the Rams would have had less than 1 minute to get into FG position themselves.

Agreed, but still no sense in a blown no call. Teams are allowed to lose and beat themselves through ad play calling, but when refs determine the outcome through blatant stupidity its unacceptable in my opinion.

Saints would have won that game if the correct and obvious call had been made. Yes Payton made bad play calls, as did the Rams. Teams do that and that is why or should be why they win and lose games. But when refs have the power to affect the outcome of a close game by making or not making the right call its unacceptable. There needs to be a review process or virtual refs that can look at and review a refs call or no call. The NFL will lose fans because of that call and because of the over abundance and increasingly difficult to interpret rules.
