Because the New Orleans Saints' 30-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys was filled with so many twists and turns Thursday, we ignored one of the wackiest plays of the day - the Cowboys' botched punt attempt in the fourth quarter that was ruled an illegal kick.

With the Cowboys still trailing 23-20 early in the fourth quarter, they lined up to punt on fourth-and-4 from the Saints' 35-yard line. But the snap hit the turf, and punter Mat McBriar reacted by running up to the ball and kicking it right off the ground.

The kick traveled nearly 30 yards, and Saints cornerback Tracy Porter fielded it and returned it two yards to the 16-yard line.
