Newton was never a good passer. His MVP season was a fluke and he quickly reverted back to the norm. He was always a running back who threw the football and when his body broke down, he was done. A running QB who can't run is done.

Lamar Jackson so far has shown a much better throwing ability than Cam ever did. It took Newton eight seasons to complete more than 64% of his passes. Jackson's only had one season completing less than 64% of his passes, and that was his rookie year. Jackson still has a lot of growing to do as a passer, but his floor is definitely higher than Cam's.
