To whom it may concern,

I am writing you on behalf of all of the Saints fans everywhere. We know that our team is looking at you as a person of interest to come in and transform our defense into a force that can carry our team to a superbowl victory. We know that you have your apprehensions about whether or not to join the team, but please hear me out.

First, your talents, your ability to dominate an offense is incredible. We can definately use you and your skills will definately complete our defense's transformation. The fans know it and when you go out there and show it to us you will be praised with the likes of Rickey Jackson and Sam Mills of the Dome Patrol era. The Saints historically have had amazing defenses, but we're currently in a position where we have an amazing offense and a lackluster defense. Your ability to restore our faith in our defense will earn you the support of each and every one of us.

You have family and we understand your concern about the region after the hurricane in 2005. There are some high crime areas and concerns related to health and recovery issues. Understand though that these same concerns are only slightly amplified over those you would face in any major city that supports an NFL team. New Orleans has rallied since Katrina devestated its population. There are still signs of the hurricane, and we're sure you'll see some when you're visiting. We want you to know that the city and its residents will welcome you with open arms and will do everything we can to help alleviate those concerns.

We know that you may have concerns over whether or not there is a supporting cast in the rest of the players on your side of the ball. We have some tremendously talented people on that side of the ball and they have been dealing with that particular concern recently. You would be one of the keys in building up the supporting cast to a point in which our defense would once again begin producing a large number of pro-bowl caliber players.

We went from a 10-6 team to a 7-9 team. This typically means that the team is slipping out of contention, but we're not. We're not slipping as long as you sign with the team and improve our defense. We were good at stopping the run with a lackluster crew, but we could not stop the pass nor could we stop the big plays. Our offense was able to muster some wins for us in crucial situations and could use some improvement in various areas as well. You are the key to taking this team to the Superbowl.

You are the key to bringing the Lombardi trophy to New Orleans for the first time ever. You will not be forgotten for your play on our field, your contributions to the history of this team, or the influence you will have on each of us every sunday and through your actions off the field. Please sign on the dotted line and become the saviour of our superbowl dreams. Thank you for considering our team and we look forward to seeing you in Black and Gold.
