Osi to the Falcons (1 Viewer)

Good replacement for Abraham but it feels like a move to just hold serve. They lost Abraham who had 10 sacks last year. They replaced him with a guy who'll probably replace that but not improve it.

Hope they paid dearly...but I don't think he had much interest during FA.

He probably got a good deal, but I'm not really concerned about the signing anyway. He will be ok, but he will have no where near the production that Abraham did, and he's not very good against the run.

I am not trying to down play their signings of Jackson and Osi because they are the falcon's, but I am not sure how much better they will be. Jackson adds some pass catching skills that turner did not which will add another dimension to their offense and he owns us every time we play against him, but I do not see him being a significant upgrade. I would say a little better than break even but cheaper so it was a good business move IMO.

I actually think Abraham is a better player but cost too much money so in a business sense I think it was a good move, but I am 50/50 on him matching Abraham's production from last year. I think for the money he was probably about the best they could do, but I see this as a downgrade in production.

Overall though I think the signings were a plus for them because they were about to free up money to get Moore and Gonzales resigned. So maybe a down grade in those two spots but about as good as they could do while keeping two other key players.

I remember last year when we signed Spags, we thought he could bring Osi with him, and the consensus was he was dried up and a one hit wonder.

Not concerned. Way to keep getting older, Falcons.

IDK I thought he would be a better pass rusher for us than Smith and like the falcons with Abraham, I thought we would get him for less money than we were paying Smith but who knows. Spags might have had him dropping back 50 yards in a diagonal back peddle in some crazy zone coverage scheme every play.

Why are so many free agents wanting to join the Failcons? One playoff win with Matt Ryan (by two points) I don't get it...

There are plenty of reasons. While the Falcons still choke in the playoffs, the perspective is that they continually get to the playoffs which is all some of these vets want. They want that shot to make the playoffs, and then hopefully get to the Super Bowl. The 49ers don't need Osi, or Steven Jackson. The Seahawks don't need either. The next logical team would be the Falcons.

In all of the games that we've played the Giants, can anyone remember him having a huge game?

Me either....I'm not worried.
