First off, what is all this games started stuff? Did you just start watching this team yesterday? We don't have a "starter" at running back. It's what ****** everyone off so much about our offensive backfield.

If you think we'd have been fine with just Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas, you're kidding yourself. the only reason Bell even had all those yards was because of 4th quarter running after a big lead.

Arrington was slow and ran like a girl and Roby has never been able to get on the field on offense.

So if you think that we would have had the same results without two players who were obviously VITAL to the team's success that year, I don't know what to tell you.

And even though it's not because of Meachem that this happened...I wouldn't go around saying things like



WHEN WE JUST WENT 7-9.

Keep thinking that Drew is the only player who is vital to this team. Ask him how he feels about it. Do whatever you want. You're belaboring a ridiculous point.

Having no head coach had nothing to do with this team going 7-9?
Ask anybody, it did.
Plus without Drew we could have easily gone 1-15 or 2-14
The man threw 5,000+ yards and 40+ TDS!!!!, how in the world can you possibly even think he is not the most vital player in our team?!?!? Don't you agree?

Anyways, Bell or Thomas could have easily gotten those carries and did what Reggie did

My whole point is that they weren't vital and what I mean to say is that they obviously played a part just like many other players did but to keeping saying those two players were vital to winning the SB isn't really true IMO

It's also funny when people acknowledge that Sullivan was a bust, but then group guys like Ellis in there with him....do u really not see the difference?

Meachem was the closest thing to a bust aside from Sullivan because he really only contributed 1 good year and has since dropped off to a nobody in San Diego...yet fans give him a pass

Why does meachem get a pass for his career that never panned out but guys like Ellis, Jenkins, Ingram, etc who have contributed since day 1 don't get a pass?

I agree with this guy. You draft a receiver in the first round and after 5 seasons, he is still not the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd starting WR?!! That is pretty damn close to a bust IMO. Not a player bust, but a 1st round bust...

Im not fond of ellis, but he is no bust, he is still playing in this league, sullivan is a bust

Don't forget we ended the previous season with PT and Chris Ivory on IR - PT with a serious injury - and were staring down the barrel of a $10M+ salary in 2011 for Reggie Bush, who also missed a fair few games through injury in his time. We hadn't signed Darren Sproles at that time either.

We *had* to get some depth at the position - the only question was how. In those circumstances, we may have overpaid slightly, but that's about it.

WE actually did sign Sproles in free agency which happens before the Draft.

And this is exactly the wrong way to appraoch the draft. You need have a knee jerk reaction to fluke injuries in the previous year. We didn't need to waste assets on a RB that early. We could've found one much later.

Not to mention the ripple effect it had on our draft picks after the bounty.

If we didn't trade our first, goddell takes that away last year. But we woud be left with the 2nd last year and the 2nd this year. Instead we lost 2 additional picks. Ultimate backfire.

Ellis is going to end up having been sketchy for #7.

But if you remember, we really wanted Glen Dorsey instead, who was probably a bigger bust. Sed Ellis was a backup plan.

I am guessing we are about average, but its probably hard to compare. For example teams like the Redskins have done well in the first round but they have had a lot of top 10 picks but traded away to get there. Where as teams like the Jags have missed a good number of times....

Even the Jags with Mercedes lewis, Tyson Alaua, and Reggie Nelson have had better elite talent

Not one of our guys has made the pro bowl from the 1st round. Think about that.

ellis should've made the pro bowl in 2010

jenkins has received all pro votes so while he didnt make the pro bowl....the associated press still deemed him elite

why is it that when the pro bowl comes around, everybody grunts and groans about how its a popularity contest, but then if our players dont make it they arent very good?

the pro bowl isnt the only way to tell if we had a successful pick. look at games started......look at tenure......look at statistics

if a 1st rounder comes in and starts from day 1. if a 1st rounder comes in and contributes more snaps at his position than anyone else on the team......then we definitely hit on that pick

No one?....then these guys are all below average. A first rd pick must have the ability to be a playmaker....and only W Smith and C Jordan comes close.....the rest
