The Saints are a much more competitive team than any of us expected, and their offense looks to be one of the best we ever had, but I am a realist.
Since starting 3-0, the Saints record over the past 6 games is a pedestrian 3-3.
A quick analysis of the three losses, and I believe we could be 8-1 right now except for the miscues.
We were competitive against the Panthers, but we lost that game because they were better than us that day.
We lost the Baltimore game bacause of the turnovers. If we could have hung unto the ball, we would have won.
We lost the Pittsburgh game because of the fumbles, giving them great field position. They scored three 3 unnecessary TDs because two defenders ran into each other, and because we allowed Portis to run wild on two consecutive plays.
If we can get control over the turnovers (particularly fumbles), and our defense can defend against the pass (no interceptions since the Philly game) (Only 4 all season, none by Thomas or MacKenzie), we can win these games.
