great season. loved the ending, though kind of obvious, watching her die immediately, as she stepped off, was great

I wish the people who did the last two episodes did the whole season
enjoyable but not great
at the end of the day, Ben is just kind of a MacGuffin.. The incredible acting saved it however
Helen’s scene with Nelson about ‘will you tell me when it’s coming’ was a bit too foreshadowy
but good pulse pounding fun

Okay... I’ve finished season 3 and watched Tiger King. What should I watch now?
If you haven't watched it, The Witcher.
Also, Money Heist (La Casa De Papel), a really good show from Spain.
There's also Y Tu Mamá También, the movie that launched the careers of Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal when they were teenagers: la neta is chida, pero inalcanzable :hihi:

I thought it was incredible. The season had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I am really excited to see the story arc of Ruth and Wyatt. It seems like they're setting them up to be the next kingpin adversaries down the road at some point.

I also like that the kids are getting older and are starting to become more involved with the inner-goings of everything. I'm betting that by the end of next season, Charlotte will be very involved in the illegal activity, perhaps running the casino money washing scheme herself.

The family is all in at this point. They have no choice now; that much is clear.

perhaps it's unfair, but it's hard to not compare this show to Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul which it seems like it really wants to emulate - especially BB
obviously any scripted story is going to be a contrivance, but Vince Gilligan/Peter Gould seem obsessive about erasing their fingerprints from the chess piece moves so the story flows 'organically' -- it's also 'simpler' for BB/BCS since its focus is on how the characters respond to crises, vs the crisis itself
Ozark seems to 'want' to emulate BB/BCS or Fargo which emphasize characters responding to (mostgly) offscreen (violence) ACTION
BUT Ozark tends to more closely resemble shows like (the last few seasons of) Peaky Blinders or Banshee or (last few seasons of) Sons of Anarchy where the writers really push characters to make choices bc it ramps up the drama to fevered heights. but, those other shows have epic violence to distract from the overt machinations and hand waving

Ozark does not have that epic violence (thankfully - nttawwt) so the machinations are more distracting
and then since we know jason bateman produces the show, we know Marty is most likely to 'win' the season - there were really only 3 possible losers. Helen, Darlene, FBI lady. There's very little backstory/emotional pull for FBI lady so not her. Darlene was planting seeds and not going directly against Marty so not her. that leaves Helen who really only had a daughter to heighten the stakes and who had the foreshadowing scene with Nelson. the writers pretty much signaled the whole season that Helen was done

Yeah, we saw it coming, but still handled well. I didn't foresee the "we'll help him win his war" tactic. And that involved FBI Lady who was losing ground because of her ethics and had to take action with the evidence Marty gift wrapped for her (for the third time). So she was tenderized and painted into a corner, and that made it believable.

And even though I knew it was going to be Helen or the Byrds (very likely Helen), the timing was beautiful and surprising. Her feet were barely on the tar mac, so to speak. And that scene reminded me of Pulp Fiction and "being on brain detail" as they cleaned Vince's car. Nothing sends a message better than splattered cerebrum on ones face, I must say.

They are definitely carving that out as a long story arc IMO. He's slowly becoming a deranged, cold-hearted serial killer before our eyes.
