Green Bay - The Green Bay Packers have targeted Russ Ball of the New Orleans Saints to be their next contract negotiator and, barring unforeseen complications, an announcement of his hiring is expected within 48 hours.

Ball, 48, was in the process Tuesday of completing an agreement with the Packers, according to a source with knowledge of the selection process.

The Packers have presented the opportunity to Ball over finalists Brian Xanders of the Atlanta Falcons and Samir Suleiman of the St. Louis Rams.

Ball, the Saints' vice president of football administration since 2002, worked alongside Packers coach Mike McCarthy in New Orleans and Kansas City and alongside Packers personnel man John Schneider in Washington and Kansas City. Full Story – Journal-Sentinel
