Sorry if this has already been posted/discussed, but haven't been reading the boards for the past week. I just realized that the Panthers are playing tonight, thus giving them four extra days to prepare for the Falcons next week, who are obviously playing on Monday. While the Panthers players will be ready for the season to be over, I think this is definitely a positive for us and gives me hope of winning the division.

I think they have a better shot of beating the falcons than most
they have 9 days total to get ready
Falcons have 5 days total to get ready
Falcons playing very emotional, brutal, draining game on Monday,
Panthers playing last game possibly for their coach who they like possibly play out of their minds to give him 1 more win against a division Rival

The 4 extra days won't make a difference. All we can hope for is J. Stewart is able to take over the game and Clausen doesn't screw it up. However, the second they get behind they are screwed.

The only chance the Panthers have of beating the Falcons is if the Falcons are "down" from the Monday loss (ala our Tampa loss last year).

I think it's pretty simple.
If we beat the Falcons, then they will destroy Carolina.
If the Falcons beat us, then they will only beat Carolina, not destroy them.

:covri:

I wouldn't discount this fact based on how poorly Carolina seems to be.

Obviously a lot of things would have to go right. Control the clock with a strong running game, Clausen play the most efficient game of his short NFL career thus far, and the Panthers must win the turnover battle. That will be the hardest thing to do, as the Falcons just simply do not kill themselves with either penalties (i.e., refs paid off), or turnovers.

it's the last game of a season that they'll finish w/ < 5 wins... unfortunately i think they'll just be playing that game out to get to the offseason. at this point i think we should accept the fact that we're gonna have to win 3 road games to get to our ultimate destination... Dallas

Jimmy Clausen has been getting better.

But even still, they are a very very bad team.

There defense isnt that bad. At first. Their offense is just so bad the D gets left out to dry and gets tired, how we were before Drew and Sean showed up.

THe only advantage is that they have more time to pack their moving vans n trailers... They should have plenty of time to get that old couch they were thinking about leaving..
