Breaking down Brees by the numbers

Posted by ESPN.com’s Pat Yasinskas

Since I’m in Atlanta, I feel like I couldn’t quite do justice to the Saints’ huge win – on the road – over Philadelphia.

That’s why I’m posting the extensive research of Floyd Hanson and Michael Rodriguez of ESPN Stats & Information that puts yet another incredible performance by Drew Brees into perspective:

What struck me here was how outstanding Brees was on 1st down as compared to other downs. More importantly, though, in any situation Yasinskas lists, just about, Brees was really good. Send 6 guys at him on a blitz? Picks the defense apart. Don't blitz, and drop back into coverage? He'll find Reggie or Shockey covered by a LB. Amazing.

Brees only threw 1 INT yet that article says he threw 1 on 1st down and 1 on other downs. Quality research I always expect from ESPN.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The rest of his observations were OK, though. Illustrative of Brees' greatness, at least.
