Patriotswire writer proposes trade idea for Chris Olave (67 Viewers)

- Abdul Carter, you absolutely do it but he'll be long gone.
- If Moore loves Cam Ward & he's there, you probably do it.
- Mason Graham, the only guy worth considering who might actually be there. I'd think about this one He is a tier above anybody you can find at 9 at a position of need & one harder to find than WR's. Also would have to factor in how Olave is with his concussions, how does his he feel about Carr throwing to him likely for the next two years, & what kind of contract he will he be due for (15.1 million option for next season followed by a much larger long term contract).

If you remove the 4th/5th round pick swap I might be on board with this one, of course they're may be a better deal out there also.
The pick swap is the part I don't agree with. Olave and #9 to move up 5 spots makes more sense. The pick swap is too much for me.

Give up Olave and move back on one of your picks to move up 5 spots? You want to go into the season with Shaheed & Bub Means as your two best receivers? I don't.
1. Who cares? We need to rebuild our roster which means there's gonna be a few down years. Does trading Olave make us a better team now? No. But it makes us better in the future which should be our goal.

2. A top 5 pick in this draft lands us a blue chip guy. One of Carter, Hunter, Graham, or Tet. And I would take any one of those over Olave.

3. We need to make a decision on Olave anyway. He's gonna want to get paid and he's one hit away from retirement. I'd rather sell early than too late.

Or we could get a true #1 WR and have Olave as a great #2 WR. I think you let this year play out and see if his concussion issues have been dealt with. Then you can decide if you extend him or trade him.
Idk. I proposed that we trade him last year and then he got concussed again the week after. Didn’t play the rest of the year. I like Olave, but I think we should move on bc he is a good trade chip. We don’t have many of those.

Problem is that he's also a good to very good WR and we only have 1 or 2 of those.

It's just a sheetty situation. If he didn't have the health issue, he would be a great #2 with potential to be a break out playmaker. But with the concussions, he's a major risk and it's hard to give him a contract extension. I'm just trying to figure out how we get the best value in a trade or if he can put the concussion issues behind him.

Patriots receive:

  • WR Chris Olave
  • Pick No. 9
  • Pick No. 129
Saints receive:

  • Pick No. 4
  • Pick No. 144

I am not a fan of the trade composition for Chris Olave. I would like to see additional pick(s) so we could address other needs. What do you think?
Unless you could guarantee me the pick is either Graham or Carter, I don't want to see this happen. Granted, he's coming off a fairly serious concussion, but is he really this "finished" here already? If so, why would Mike Vrabel and the gang up in New England -- or anyone else, for that matter -- take a chance on him?

A horrible trade. We lose our starting wideout and the number 9 to move up five spots and then drop back later.

I would do it... Olave is just one tackle away from the the retirement home given all his concussions.

Other teams know that Olave is a huge medical risk, and it puzzles me that folks think he has trade value....I would think he is little to none at all.....

Which is all the more reason not to trade him now. If he has no trade value then nothing you get is worth the loss of him playing this year. And if he can stay healthy and be productive this year then maybe he gains value by the trade deadline.

I don't disagree....it sucks but I hope he stays healthy going forward....or just retires....

The problem with local writers and trade proposals, is that they always sway the compensation in their favor.
😂 yes! I’m read the title and I was already thing Olave and a 5th rounder for Drake Maye and swap 1st…

😂😂🤣😂. I guess I could throw in a conditional 2026, 7th rounder…. Cuz I’m generous.

You are correct, when a player has zero trade value don’t trade him.
