Saints still have a lot of work to do
By Les East/The Advocate
METAIRIE — The New Orleans Saints’ 31-13 victory at Atlanta on Sunday was a significant triumph for a variety of reasons, but the 7-4 team still has a lot of work left.
That was the two-pronged message coming from coach Sean Payton at his weekly news conference Monday.
His team ended a two-game losing streak, regained sole possession of first place in the NFC South and improved to 6-1 in the conference and 4-1 in the division.
“We’re getting to that point where you do begin looking at your own division,” Payton said. “It was a chance for us to play someone the second time. We had played them well the first time (a 23-3 victory on Sept. 25 in the Superdome), but a game like that on the road against a team that was needing a win as much as we were was going to be a tough game.
