I would have thought that it’s not that nobody wants him, it’s that he doesn’t want the people that want him.
He thought he could have his pick of the jobs and he was so valuable people would be fired to accommodate him…just like the Miami stuff it has backfired on him.

The grass isn’t always greener coach, maybe your fake retirement will become an unforced reality. Karma is a birch.

I agree. The price is the price. At the end of the day, a coach the team really likes and has under contract decided to “retire,” and literally within weeks, perhaps even days, was letting the world know he wants to coach again.

That’s a bad precedent to allow to happen without a fight or without fully exercising your contractual rights to your liking, even to your own detriment if you don’t get close to what you want.

It's weird that he apparently thought he'd go to a turnkey roster waiting with a star QB. Those places aren't firing their coaches.

Loomis seemed to say that they had him locked up through the years left, but that may have been him playing nice. Loomis probably told teams who were interested, that it would take "at least" a mid first round pick in 2023 AND other compensation. It is possible that Arizona, who does not have a "mid first round" pick and Denver, who does not have a mid first round pick, may not want to pay the exact price. I don't think the Saints should give back a single pick, the "rounding error" can go to the detriment of the team trading for him.

I'm ok with him sitting out and staying on Fox. He made the franchise relevant, but he also quit when things looked bleak and he was pretty much floating soon after that he wanted to coach again. He was not "burned out" he just wanted a break. I don't begrudge him for that, but his break was for 10 minutes. He wants back in, he wants the juice. This is Sean Payton floating it out there that the team(s) don't want to pay the draft choices. Either to make Loomis blink or because he didn't get a job offer.

This is my concern. For all his good work over the years, Loomis has not shown a lot of prowess where trades are concerned. I would take their first this year and several other picks. Let's get something worthwhile out of it and not repeat the horror of the CJGJ debacle.

This right here. As if Loomis is reading Saintsreport and chewing his nails with worry about what we think. There are a lot of Saints fans in here but there is a 100 times more out there.

If GB is requiring 2 firsts for Rogers which is past his prime then getting SP for the same is peanuts. Whether it’s true or not, the national opinion of acquiring SP, is the team that gets him will have similar results as he did with the Saints. His leaving when he did, while it sucks for us, helps us, in that his “perceived” value is off the charts. ML realizes he’s bargaining with SPs perceived value not his true value. His true value is around 1/2 without Brees. But until it’s proven that he cannot succeed without a hall of fame QB his perceived value will be astronomical. 2 firsts and 2 seconds or something similar Or bust.
