Just this past week an article was posted with teams remaining cap space and we are second behind Tampa.

Can you find that article? I want to see the latest I can find.

He wouldn't cost as much as people are acting like he will, no team has the money to give out a HUGE contract to him. The bidding war wouldn't be with big numbers, he will get a very nice contract, but not a contract that he would have gotten at the begining of FA.

Which I believe is why the writer quoted in the OP said that he'd be better taking his one year's franchise payout and then getting into the market for more next year.

PS. A team giving out a lot of fat FA contracts hasn't necessarily used up the same proportion of their 2008 cap room by doing so. If they prorate signing bonus (vast majority do) and/or set up future roster bonuses, plus backload the salaries (again a great many do), then they could have still retained enough wiggle room to splash out once more this FA period. And so, TB could still have more cap room than us.

If this is true, I say go all out once he hits the market. Of course, that's a BIG "if".

1. Nnamdi Asomugha is the best pure man cover corner in the league.

2. Our No.1 priority heading into next season is a man cover corner.


How can we possibly pass on him if the Raiders let him go?
