Yep been reading about this
The team supposedly had an investigation and did not find anything. Gritty does get a bit rough with people like slamming them in the face with a sheet cake.

I would like to think it was a bit of rough play that went wrong.

I have to say I do love gritty. I can't remember when i cared enough about a mascot to remember what the heck they call him and I don't even watch hockey.
