A few more taken with the old 6 Plus. I really don't have the money for a professional camera but the new 7 Plus i just bought has a pretty decent sensor and shoots in RAW, so i'll have to see how those shots compare.

That's pretty cool. I'm not lying when I say that on our recent trip to Washington, some of the best, if not the best, shots came from an iphone. It was crazy and made us wonder why we bothered carrying cameras.

It's mind blowing the advances in cell phone cameras in just 10 years. Now obviously the image quality is far from DSLR, but it's hard to believe that the gap is actually closing--slowly but surely.

I often wonder how much better mobile cameras will get years from now and if they'll eventually hit "a wall".

I really think it's about image processing. If you looked at the iPhone photo in a critical way, you'd see the flaws and drawbacks of the sensor for sure. But in terms of reproducing what we were seeing in landscapes in a way that was pleasing to the eye, it was awesome. It'll be interesting to see what phone cameras produce once we get into raw images.

Definitely. The "graininess" of the sky in a lot of photos irks me, as does the tendency of strange blurry effect around a subject at times. The one thing I do like about the iphone is that it doesn't oversaturate colors like the samsung line is notorious for and really emphasizes images as the human eye sees them, as you said.

taken this a.m. Best I can tell from age progression pictures is a two or three year old American Bald.

That looks about right.

Our eagle season is starting up here. I checked last week and saw around 34 at my usual spot, hoping there will be over 100 this week.

I saw a couple of young ones the weekend before last. It's always so beautiful when I'm fishing this time of year. But I'm not going to miss a fish for a picture. :)

I'm always surprised by the fishermen trying to snag half dead salmon that the eagles are going after here. I wouldn't have wanted to touch one of those, much less eat one, when I ate fish.

People are weird. The more fish I catch, the more I release. I'm a little particular about the age and size of fish that I consume. So there's no way in hell I'd compete with an eagle to eat a half dead, rotten fish. Gross.

My gf is doing a nursing contact in California so been able to make a few trips out and take in some hiking.

Nice shots outside your usual landscape area. I'd like to do some landscape astro in the desert.

The eagle with the mottled head is a good follow up to Zack's 2-3 year old. This one is likely in the 4th year since the body is almost completely dark, bill almost completely yellow, and head and tail white with brown mottling.

You oughta checkout Joshua Tree NP. Its got a diverse landscape to capture. Lots of overnight camping sites and from what I've seen a great place for night photography. I'd love to go back and have at least 2 full days to experience it all. The Palm Springs airport is a little over an hour drive away.

I'd like to explore California's landscapes. We have non-stop flights to Palm Springs for under $150, but that's on Allegiant which I'm certain is bound to crash at some point.
